How it works

Add it. Split it. Settle it.

Three steps from “who paid for dinner?” to all square.

01 · Add

Add it in seconds

Type it like you'd say it, or scan the receipt, and pick who was there. On iPhone you can just ask Siri.

02 · Split

Split it your way

Equally, by exact amounts, percentages or shares, or item by item from a scanned receipt. Several payers? Easy.

03 · Settle

Settle up, simply

Paiso works out the fewest payments. Pay opens UPI, PayPal or Revolut with your friend filled in.

Shared groups

Everyone sees the same bill.

Make a group for the trip, the flat or the office lunch crew. It lives on every member's phone, and when anyone adds an expense, everyone's balances update in seconds.

  • Syncs for every memberEdits, deletes and settle-ups reach the whole group, even after a night offline.
  • See who's inEvery member shows as Joined or Invited, so nobody slips through.
  • Join with one tapShare a link or a QR code, or paste an invite code in the app.
  • iPhone and Android, one groupFriends on either platform share the same group and the same numbers.

A QR for every group and person

Each one is unique, with the Paiso P at its heart. Point a phone camera at it to join the group or add you.

See who's already here

Search your contacts and add friends in a tap. Matching happens privately, with one-way hashes.

Invite by text or email

Texts go from your own number, never from us. Tap the link, install, and you're in the group.

Comments and edit history

Ask about an expense right on it. Every change is listed in plain words, so nothing shifts quietly.

A view-only link for the rest

The group's owner can share a read-only page with balances and recent expenses. First names only, never emails. Switch it off and the link stops working.

Notifications and nudges

Hear about expenses you're in, payments and comments. Nudge a friend to settle up: once a day at most, and never with an amount.

Know what loans really cost.

Add a loan, or import the statement your bank sent. Paiso reads the rate, EMI and payment date, works out what it costs you each day and reminds you before every EMI.

  • EMI reminders two days before each payment goes out.
  • Moratorium-aware. Scan a statement with a moratorium and the maths follows it, charging interest on the principal only until your first EMI.

Insights

Categories, months and trends, charted. See where your share goes.

Every currency

Each expense keeps its own currency. Totals land in yours, at live rates.

iPhone

“Split it?” after you pay

Pay with Apple Pay and Paiso asks if it was a group thing. One tap and it's split. Prefer quiet? Switch it off.

Search, Siri and Shortcuts

Find any expense in a blink. On iPhone, just ask Siri or build a Shortcut.

Pay in a tap

Pay opens your UPI app, PayPal or Revolut with your friend filled in. Paiso never touches the money.

Type it like you'd say it

Write “Dinner 1200 with Rohan and Priya” and Paiso fills in the amount, the people and the date. Check it, then save.

Your own categories

Add a category with a name and an emoji. It syncs to your devices, and your group sees it on your expenses.

Add it before it happens

Give an expense a future date and it waits under Scheduled. Balances, budgets and settle-up count it from that day.

Privacy

Private by design.

When Paiso looks for your friends, only one-way hashes leave your phone. Receipts and loan documents are read on your phone and never uploaded.

Ledger only

Paiso records who paid what. It never moves, holds or touches your money.

Documents never stored

Loan papers are discarded as soon as they're read, and receipt photos never leave your phone. Only the numbers you confirm are kept.

Contacts stay yours

Your address book never leaves your phone. The server compares hashes, returns the matches and keeps nothing you sent.

No ads, no tracking

No ad networks, no cross-app tracking, and we never sell your data.

Face ID or fingerprint lock

Lock the app with your face or fingerprint. Sync is encrypted in transit, and your session is kept in the Keychain or the Android Keystore.

Delete any time

Delete your account and cloud data from Settings whenever you like. Export your ledger as CSV first if you want a copy.

Questions

Good to know.

The short answers. There are more on the support page.

All answers on Support
What is Paiso?

Paiso is a free app for splitting bills and shared expenses with friends, flatmates and trips, on iPhone, iPad and Android. It's made by Vaibhav Mangroliya (VKKM), and its home is paiso.net. It isn't connected to other apps or companies that use the name Paiso. More about Paiso

Does Paiso move money?

No. Paiso only records who paid what. If you owe a friend who has added a payment app, Pay opens it (a UPI app, PayPal, Revolut and more) with them filled in, and the money moves there. When you're back, Paiso asks if you paid and records it. Cash or a bank transfer works too.

Is Paiso free?

Yes. Every feature is free, with no ads and no daily limits.

Is Paiso a Splitwise alternative?

Yes. Paiso does the everyday bill-splitting jobs: shared groups that sync for everyone, splitting equally, by exact amounts, percentages, shares or item by item, and settling up in the fewest payments. Every feature is free, with no ads and no daily limits. Moving over? Import a Splitwise group's export at paiso.net/app, and every expense and payment comes across.

Does Paiso work with UPI?

Yes. Add your UPI ID in Settings, and a friend who owes you can tap Pay to open their UPI app with you filled in; they type the amount there. Paiso never moves the money itself. Receipt scanning reads UPI and card payment screenshots too.

Is there a web version?

Yes, for the moments you're away from your phone: paiso.net/app signs in to the same account and shows the same ledger. Paiso is made for your phone, though; the apps get the Split it? prompts, Siri, scanning and notifications.

When can I get it?

Soon. Paiso for iPhone and iPad is on its way to the App Store, and the Android app is on its way to Google Play. Write to [email protected] and we'll tell you the day it launches.

How do shared groups work?

Create a group and add friends by name, email or phone, or from your contacts. Everyone who joins sees the same expenses and balances, and changes sync to every member within seconds.

Which currencies does Paiso support?

All of them. Each expense keeps its own currency, and totals are shown in your home currency at today's rate. You can set a default currency so you don't pick it every time.

How does Paiso know which of my contacts are on Paiso?

The app compares one-way SHA-256 hashes of your contacts' email addresses with registered accounts. Your address book never leaves your phone, and the hashes aren't stored.

Shared money, settled.

Free, with every feature included. Coming soon for iPhone, iPad and Android.
